Olympic Games has always been seen as a way to get more consumers to buy their products by big companies and popular brands. Many big companies are trying to talk up their brands on Facebook, which, am sure, could lead to more purchases.

London Summer Olympic will start on July 27th and run until August 12,2012.

This is the first Olympic Games where Marketers are pinning their hopes on Social Media to create a brand awareness for their products. London Summer Olympics are just 100 days away. Advertisers are hoping to get consumers to chat about their promotions online which will do much of the advertising in raising their brand profiles.

People are spending more time on Social Media Websites. Facebook had 145 million users in 2008. In 2011, it was visited by 794 million people each month. 377minutes was spent by each person, which is more than 6 hours. Today online marketing is not just building websites, but building elaborate campaigns to create a buzz on Social Media Websites such as Twitter and Pinterest.

This campaign shows advertisements of mothers raising Olympic athelets. P&G ask its fans to write the most catchy "Thank You Mom" message and win a trip to London to watch the Olympic Games.It is also hoping to drive traffic to pages for their own brands like Tide detergent, Pampers diapers, Oil of Olay moisturizers, and Cover Girl cosmetics. P&G is hoping to build its 5million fan base to 50million in the next few months, which would be a lot quicker than the normal times.

Companies are finding out the ways to calculate the worth of each "like" or "share", that their campaigns have got from the people.15 to 20% of advertisement funds that are used to spend on TV commercials, by the big companies, for bigger events such like Olympics, are being spent on Digial Media for this London Summer Olympics 2012.
